1-2-1 Yoga Therapy
For thousands of years the philosophy and practice of yoga has been used in India to bring about well being and optimum health. Yoga therapy brings this ancient wisdom to the West and applies it to each individual's unique circumstances to help them manage their health with more ease and confidence.
Yoga therapy can help with many aspects physical or mental health. It can be appropriate for a wide range of ages and lifestyles as well as those looking for a healthier way of life.
I offer bespoke one-to-one sessions as well as a number of short courses and workshops run in small therapy groups for a range of conditions.
Who is it suitable for?
"If you can breathe, you can do yoga"
Anyone can do yoga and yoga therapy is suitable for practically everyone. Movement is only a small part of what yoga can truly offer. The scope of yoga includes breath work, visualisation, meditation, mindfulness and relaxation. Â So given the breadth of yoga practices available, there really are yoga techniques adaptable for everyone no matter what their circumstances. It is part of my training as a yoga therapist to select and offer the most relevant and most beneficial practices suitable for an individual.
Benefits of yoga therapy
Through practising a yoga therapy programme the participant may:-
- become more aware of posture and breathing
- develop relaxation skills
- sleep better
- relieve muscular tension and manage pain more effectively
- feel an increased sense of well being and a positive mood
Who is qualified to teach yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy is delivered by yoga teachers who have undertaken additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga. I hold a Dru Yoga Therapy Diploma which is accredited by the British Council for Yoga Therapy. I am also registered with the CNHC (Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council). My registration with the CNHC means that I can receive referrals from NHS doctors and some private healthcare plans.
What to expect in a one-to-one yoga therapy session
First session: 60 minute health assessment
During a typical first yoga therapy session I will spend some time taking a full medical history. The body, posture, simple movements and the breath may be observed and any issues and concerns can be discussed. Working with yoga therapeutically is about the whole person and so the mind, body and emotions will be taken into account when treating. I will then discuss how I feel yoga therapy may help and together we develop a tailor made yoga therapy programme matched to your specific needs and goals. You will also be introduced to the first of your bespoke yoga therapy techniques for you to take home and use.
Second session: Â 50 - 60 minutes
You will be guided through your own personal yoga a therapy programme and given your own home practice to use.
Follow on sessions: 50 - 60 minutes
Any subsequent sessions I would review, develop and revise the yoga therapy programme taking into account the progress a client is making or for any changes in needs or goals by the client.

Yoga therapy works best when we have time to explore your needs and create lasting change. That's why I offer yoga therapy as a block of six sessions, designed to be taken over three months. This commitment gives us the space to work together meaningfully and helps you build sustainable practices that support your wellbeing. Sessions take place in my therapy and teaching space in one of the upstairs rooms Lentils and Lather in Marple.
If this feels right for you, I'd love to hear from you. You can book your six-session package below, or reach out at info@yogatherapystockport.co.uk or 07813 077074 if you'd like to chat first and learn more about how we'll work together.
