Sunday night yoga nidra

Many of my students have told me that they love the guided relaxation at the end of the class and feel it is the "best bit"  and wish it could be longer. In response to this I now offering a Sunday night rest and relaxation class which will focus specifically on deep relaxation and yoga nidra.

Yoga nidra translates as "the sleep of the yogis" and aims to create a balance between relaxing deeply in the body and being alert and clear in the mind. Just a twenty minute practice is thought to be as restorative as two hours sleep. It is a practice that I use regularly myself for a range of situations such as:

  • restore energy levels when feeling depleted,
  • managing insomnia
  • allowing my body to take deep and healing rest
  • release physical tension
  • reduce stress

These sessions will be a blend of practices to let go of muscular, emotional and mental tensions. Each session will also contain elements of breathwork and meditation to compliment the relaxation experience.

I am restarting my Sunday night yoga nidra sessions over this Summer with various dates.  The sessions will take place via zoom so all you will need is a quiet place to rest and some warm blankets. It is ideal to do lying in bed if you so choose.
