Sunday night yoga nidra

Many of my students have told me that they love the guided relaxation at the end of the class and feel it is the "best bit"  and wish it could be longer. In response to this I am starting a once a month Sunday night yoga nidra class which will focus specifically on deep relaxation.

Yoga nidra translates as "the sleep of the yogis" and aims to create a balance between relaxing deeply in the body and being alert and clear in the mind. Just a twenty minute practice is thought to be as restorative as two hours sleep. It is a practice that I use regularly myself for a range of situations such as:

  • restore energy levels when feeling depleted,
  • managing insomnia
  • allowing my body to take deep and healing rest
  • release physical tension
  • reduce stress

This session will be a blend of practices to let go of muscular, emotional and mental tensions. Some of these practices will be contemporary guided relaxations and some follow a traditional yoga nidra approach. Each session will also contain elements of breathwork and meditation to compliment the relaxation experience.

December online yoga nidra session

There will be no formal yoga nidra session in December. Instead I will be offering a "join in from home" online session. At 9.00 pm on the 8th December I invite you to lie down, snuggle up and log on to a free guided yoga nidra as a beautiful preparation for a wonderfully restive nights sleep.

You can book the session below. I will be using zoom to run the session and I will send out a link a couple of days before so that you can join in.

"Most people sleep without resolving their tensions,
This is termed nidra.
Nidra means sleep, no matter what or why,
But yoga nidra means sleep after throwing off the burdens,
It is a blissful, higher quality altogether."
